Henry Ford once stated, "Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, either way you will be right." I love that statement, because it is so elegantly correct. In this high-speed world of instant results and text messaging, we have accelerated the way we live. The expectations for us have also increased. People used to be happy if you called them back the same day. Now if you are not instantly accessible and in contact with the office, the boss, our children, or spouse, one has a assumption something is wrong with you. We are expected to hold it all together and if we can't, we implode on the way we feel about ourselves.
In the many years I have been working with depression, stress and trauma, I have learned a simple formula: <Thoughts = Feelings =Behaviors = Reality = Our Life. Many professionals in the health care system attack the challenge of stress, anxiety, and depression from manipulating the clients feelings or behaviors. The practitioner will prescribe a long term talk therapy protocol or drugs to address the symptom. This will seem to work for some, however, for others this is a "no win" solution. First of all, from the therapeutic approach, by going back and reliving the initial trauma and talking about it, will usually only deepen it. This can add to the problem and years of no resolution if the treatment is not done correctly. Keep in mind you do not un-learn anything. The true solution is to learn new resources which provide solutions that are stronger and heartier than the old behavior.

As far as antidepressent anxiety drugs go, the cure is worse than the symptom. Many of these drugs will cause greater health issues and side effects than are necessary.
